God's Outcome for the Presidential Election

Today we have a new president, Donald J. Trump. This election was one of the most fierce elections in my life time. The outcome, however, serves as a reminder to us that God is sovereign, despite the pundits, press, and polls! Romans 13: 1 reminds us;

(Romans 13:1) Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Many of the pollsters are reeling today over the outcome of this election. They have factored in every number and opinion of men, but they forgot to factor in God! They neglected to consider the soul and spirit of the nation. Washington has a way of numbing our appointed officials to the real voice and need of the people. But God has a way of getting their attention! In Isaiah the Lord declared, (Isaiah 43:13b) “I work, and who will reverse it?"

As a believer whether you voted for president elect Trump or not, we are called to pray for him and his family. Pray that God will grant him wisdom to correct the mistakes of our nation. Pray also for righteous leadership in his cabinet, for the benefit of all the people.

(1 Timothy 2:1-4) Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

(Proverbs 14:34) Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.

On another note this election reminds me of how “little faith” I often possess as believer. Far too often we are given over, spiritually speaking, to the voices of unbelief; the “doubting pundits,” “negative press,” and “demonic polls” in our own lives. We fail to realize that we serve a mighty God who acts on our behalf!

(Isaiah 64:4) For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.

If Donald Trump can defy the odds and win a presidential election, albeit by the sovereign will of God, what about the challenges in our lives? This is a new day for our nation, but let not our confidence be in the arm of the flesh, (in man), but in the arm of the Lord!

(Psalm 146:3-5) Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God.

May God, in the multitudes of His tender mercies, have mercy upon our nation for “good,” and for His “glory!” And may we dare, in these troubling times, to believe in our God who “acts” on behalf of His people! This is a historic monumental moment in our nation, but it will have been wasted if the people of God turn from trusting God to trusting in a newly appointed administration! Remember “revival” and a truespiritual  awakening for America, does not begin in the White House, but in “God’s House”; and more specifically in “your house,” for “you are the temple of God,” (1 Corinthians 3:16).

To God Be The Glory,
